Dove Pointe Acquires Long & Foster Building for Expansion

AUGUST 2013, SALISBURY, MD – John McClellan, CCIM and Brent Miller, CCIM, CPM with Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate in Salisbury, MD are pleased to announce that locally-based Dove Pointe has purchased a new location at 1315 Mt. Hermon Road in Salisbury, MD. The location includes a 15,000 SF structure situated on a 2.08 acre parcel that has been home to Long & Foster since 2002. Miller represented Dove Pointe and McClellan represented the seller, Long & Foster.

Dove Pointe has been expanding their core services in the Mt. Hermon Road area since first acquiring the former Service Merchandise building in 1997. Since 1968, Dove Pointe has provided services to persons with disabilities. Their Vocational Services focuses on teaching specific work skills necessary to become a successful employee. Through success on the job they foster integration rather than isolation, focusing on independence rather than dependence for those with disabilities.

According to Executive Director Donald B. Hackett, “We have been seeking additional space to better serve our clients and their families. The opportunity to acquire a free standing building so close to our existing operations allows us to expand and meet those needs, enabling us to better serve the community. We greatly appreciated the level of assistance and professionalism Brent Miller and John McClellan brought to the transaction, going above and beyond to ensure our acquisition of this property.”

John McClellan, who represented the seller, states that it was a pleasure to serve the long-standing real estate company and provide commercial expertise in the local market. Long & Foster will be relocating in the Salisbury area in the Spring of 2014.

The project was financed under the direction of Linda Mundt and the Business Banking Team at M&T Bank in Salisbury.   M&T was able to offer a comprehensive loan package to facilitate the acquisition of the new property.
